Willis-Knighton Health System is a not-for-profit community healthcare organization with three general/acute care hospitals in Shreveport, La., one general/acute care hospital in Bossier City, La., and an active adult lifestyle community targeting older citizens in Shreveport. It is the largest nongovernmental employer in Northwest Louisiana.

The Health System includes Willis-Knighton Medical Center (flagship location), Willis-Knighton South & the Center for Women’s Health (first satellite hospital in Louisiana), WK Bossier Health Center and WK Pierremont Health Center. Innovative technology, coupled with compassionate care for patients and the community, have made Willis-Knighton the region’s preferred hospital and a healthcare leader in the state and nationally.

The hospital has brought a number of “firsts” to Northwest Louisiana in eye surgery, heart care and cancer care. Continuing in that tradition, the Willis-Knighton Heart & Vascular Institute has opened the first hybrid room to support a multidisciplinary approach to heart care. The Willis-Knighton Cancer Center is a world leader in image-guided radiation therapy, pioneering techniques in TomoTherapy. That has position made it an ideal site for the addition of a proton beam therapy center, currently under construction.

The health system is locally-owned and locally operated, which means that people who make major healthcare decisions for healthcare in the community live and work in the community.
